Commodore congratulates Jeanne Socrates on becoming the oldest person to complete a solo non-stop circumnavigation.
Commodore Paul Heiney writes:
“On behalf of the Club I have sent to our member, Jeanne Socrates, our congratulations on her arrival back in Victoria, Vancouver Island, after her epic solo circumnavigation. She is now ‘the oldest person to have sailed non-stop singlehanded around the world.’ She is 77 and this is her third attempt which follows a serious back injury which delayed her departure by a year. She has shown remarkable determination.
I hope that we can offer our congratulations in person when she returns to the UK over the winter.”
